Fostering individuality, initiative and a love for learning
At LWS, we take great care to engage with parents about the schools which would best suit their child’s personality and ability. Former pupils and students often come back to visit to discuss their achievements and success and some return later for work experience. We’ve even had one join us as a teacher!
We prepare our pupils for entry to a wide range of maintained and independent schools, including both London day schools and boarding schools further afield. Regardless of what path their peers are taking, we firmly believe that parents’ personal choice must be based on a ‘good fit’ in both ethos and academia. We encourage realistic expectation with regard to character and potential – here at LWS, we pride ourselves on not fitting square pegs into round holes.
We will meet with parents in advance to discuss the secondary transfer process thoroughly with a view to thinking about school choice early. Once clear targets have been identified, we aim to prepare all the children in the skills required, including interview and exam techniques, to enable them to participate in entrance exams. Exam practice will be included in the curriculum during the months preceding the exams.
We encourage an open dialogue with parents throughout this process.
